An Evening with Trina Robbins
Join us at the ToonSeum for an engaging evening with cartoonist and comics historian Trina Robbins.
Ms. Robbins with give a presentation on women cartoonists from the turn of the last century to present day.
She will also sign her new book, Pretty In Ink: North American Women Cartoonists 1896-2013.
This is a free event and open to the public.

Gary Groth Portfolio Reviews
Five Pittsburgh cartoonists have been invited to have their comics work
reviewed by leading comics publisher, Fantagraphics co-founder Gary Groth.
Five more cartoonists will be selected for reviews from a pool of online submissions.

PIX Welcome Party / Theo Ellsworth Exhibit Opening
This kick-off event for PIX: The Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo neatly coincides with the opening of the
latest ToonSeum exhibit, Theo Ellsworth: Memory and Identity.
PIX exhibitors are invited to mix and mingle with some old friends and make some new ones while taking in the
beautifully strange and dazzlingly original artwork of cartoonist Theo Ellsworth. Mr. Ellsworth will be on hand to meet fans and
sign his latest books, mini-comics and an exclusive ToonSeum print commemorating his one man show at the museum.
This is a private event for PIX exhibitors and ToonSeum members only*.

PIX 2014: The Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo
It’s here… It’s today… PIX 2014 is an all-day indy comics lovin’ affair!
DAYTIME EXHIBITION: From 10:00am until 5:00pm our exhibit floor is open.
This intimate show allows you to get up close and personal with independent cartoonists, comics creators, graphic artists, and small press publishers from around the country – with a concentration from the tri-state area. Over 60 exhibitors will be on hand throughout the day for you to meet and discover. They will be displaying and selling their latest works — graphic novels, mini comics, t-shirts, prints and more – many of which are limited-editions that will only be available in the Pittsburgh area here at PIX.
EVENING PROGRAMMING: From 7:00pm until 11:00pm
Tonight’s programs will provide a rare opportunity go behind-the-scenes with some of comics’ top creators. These programs are sure to be of interest to anyone passionate about independent comics. See the schedule below.
7:00 – 7:30: Farel Dalrymple will provide a sneak peek at his much anticipated forthcoming graphic novel, Wrenchies.
7:30 – 8:00: Tom Scioli will present on The Future of Science Fiction Comics
8:00 – 8:30: Ed Piskor drops some science on his hit Hip Hop Family Tree series.
8:30 – 9:30: Panel discussion – Farel Dalrymple, Jasen Lex, Ed Piskor, Jim Rugg, Tom Scioli & TBA discuss the ins and outs of independent comics creation in 2014, from webcomics to print comics, work-for-hire vs. freelance, self-publishing vs. small press, self-promotion and more!
9:30 – 10:00: Theo Ellsworth presentation
10:00-11:00: Gary Groth in conversation with Tony Norman on the rise of the independent comics movement
Both the daytime exhibition and the evening programming are FREE and open to the public.
