Some Quick Reviews for Today’s Books

Invincible Iron Man #505

Iron Man vs Super-Charged Grey Gargoyle.  More people become broken statues.  Based on this I don’t see how they can beat The Worthy.  OK, but I’d like to see more forward movement of the plot.

Avengers #14

Odd change back to Romita Jr art.  Bachalo made the interview panels neat.  not so much here.  They all look the same.  Hulk vs Super-Charged Thing.  based on this, I don’t see how they can beat the Worthy.  And all we have seen from Red Hulk is he can take a beating.  First Super-Charged Hood and now Thing.

X-Men #13

The Evolutionaries are still messing with stuff and we have a glimpse at the origins of Emma Frost which look like it will be more developed in the next issue.  One thing was odd after reading this and X-Men Prelude to Schism.  In one, Magneto is with them.  In the other he isn’t.  Odd.  Also, I have no idea who the people that popped up at the end are.  Hopefully it will be explained.

X-Men Prelude to Schism #3

Instead of Professor X or Magneto talking about Scott, we get Scott talking about Scott.  but we still don’t know what the threat is.  On a side note, I hadn’t looked more closely at the postcard they sent for Schism, but after looking at it, I see that the only X-book it crosses into is Generation hope and that the 5 issues are by 5 different artists.  Really odd.

Flashpoint Minis – Overall, I have really enjoyed these.  Secret Seven I didn’t understand, but that is Milligan and hopefully it will make sense by the end.  now on to these specifically:

Deadman & the Flying Graysons –

Dick and Family are circus performers along with Deadman.  Ragdoll, Shark-head Guy (sorry) and Dr Fate are in the Freak Show.  A fortune is told and appearance is made at the end to tie this in to the rest of the story.  Very good.

Grodd of War –

Grodd has taken control of the entire African continent.  But it is not enough.  He wants to be more feared than Aquaman.  A good one-shot.  Brutal, but good.

Legion of Doom –

A lot of fun in that the Super Friends Legion of Doom headquarters in Slaughter Swamp has been turned into a maximum security prison.  It currently houses Heat Wave.  But he is not happy about it and doesn’t want to be there. Special appearance by a guy who I could never figure out for a good guy.

Wonder Woman and the Furies –

The real reason for the Wonder Woman/Aquaman war is revealed.  Very good.  Puts a spin on an already interesting story.
