Quick Review: Uncanny X-Force 26-28

If you jumped off X-Force during the Otherworld storyline, come back! It’s back on track.

I don’t know if I ever said in print, but I think the Otherworld storyline was a bit of a misstep of X-Force. A new artist that didn’t jell with the previous ones. A story dependent on your knowledge of Captain Britain’s history and family history. Yes, it introduced a new bad guy, Skinlessman, but that confused me even more. Was he part of Captain Britain’s group or part of Fantomex’s past? I spent far too much time trying to figure out who people were rather than just reading and enjoying. I never read Excalibur, so I was lost.

But now it’s back on track. The New Masters of Evil has been formed. The new Apocalypse is involved. A time travel jump that works. 3 character die (well, maybe, this is comics so we’ll see if they stick). Good stuff. The Phil Noto art on the first 2 issues is wonderful, as always, and the different art on the 3rd issue works too because its the time travel issue.

My only concern with the whole thing is that SPOILERS, the bad guy is the same as in Remender’s Secret Avengers. I just hope that people don’t need to read both because, in concept, they have very different readers. X-Men fans aren’t necessarily Avengers fans.

If you jumped off X-Force, I recommend jumping back on.
