The End of an Era – Jeremy’s Last Day

As some of you may know, today is Jeremy’s last day helping me out at the store. Apparently getting a real job and getting a house and all is more important than hanging out and talking comics a few days a week. Fine. Whatever. I don’t take it personally. Really I don’t.

I wanted to take a moment and publicly thank Jeremy for all of the help over the past year.  Last Summer, Jeremy was let go from his lab assistant job at Pitt. He wasn’t all that upset about it. Instead of just sitting around the house, Jen (his then soon-to-be wife) told him to come hang out at the store so that he didn’t become a recluse. So, after having him at the store several days a week, I put him to work. Sorting boxes, shelving graphic novels, running the register so that I could sneak out.

Now he’s leaving and I’m really going to miss him. I’ve really come to rely on him being there and doing certain things every week so that I don’t have to do them. I’ve also gotten used to having him there to talk to and bounce ideas off of.  It was Jeremy that came up with the name ComicPerks for the cards.

I know he’ll be back every so often to get books, but it won’t be the same. So if you come in and I’m staring off into space, its probably because I’m thinking “Man, I can’t believe I have to put away all of those trades.”

Good luck, Jeremy, and thanks for all the help over the last year.
