Some More Late Reviews

Hey, I could make something out of this site if I got my act together, huh?

First-Impression Reviews

Flashpoint: Batman Knight of Vengeance #3 – B+
I wish DC didn’t feel the need to tie this so closely into the primary Flashpoint mini.  Works great as a stand-alone Elseworld story.

Punisher #1 – C
Photo-traced artwork = completely distracting; seeing Detective Oscar Clemens morph into Morgan Freeman took me right out of the story.

Avengers Academy #17 – C
AA is the spiritual heir to Avengers: The Initiative, but I’ve finally figured out the difference: Where A:TI was swashbuckling and adventurous, AA is depressing.

Flashpoint #4 – B
Same stakes as last issue…and the issue before that, and the issue before that, yet no closer to a solution.  Tick-tock, guys.  Tick-tock.

Moon Knight #4 – F
19 pages@$3.99 for typical Bendis: Every character has the same “voice,” no advancement in plot, extraneous dialogue, fight scene, the end.

Thunderbolts #161 – B-
The T’bolts have been reacting to crises through most of Parker’s run; I would love for the series to take stock of the bigger picture.

Heroes for Hire #10 – A
Just a fun, fun book that shows why c- and d-list heroes do their “hero” thing.
